Bloco na Rua Project

GINGA
The foundational samba sway
Monday 6h30 - 8pm
A doorway into samba, open to everyone — even if you've never danced a day in your life. Ginga is the sway at the heart of everything — that undulation that comes from within and stays with you. We start here. We explore how the body responds to Brazilian rhythm: the weight shifts, the pulse, the pleasure of moving. No performance, no judgment — just the discovery of what your body already knows how to do. These sessions are part of the Bloco na Rua project. If at some point during the summer you feel ready to perform, that possibility is there. Never an obligation.

MANDINGA
The subtle power that lives in movement
Wednesday 6h30 to 8pm
For those who already have a relationship with samba and want to go where it gets really interesting. Mandinga is what can't be taught directly — that magic in the gesture, that presence beyond technique. We work on fluidity, musicality, the space between the steps. We play with rhythm instead of just following it. These sessions are part of the Bloco na Rua project. The possibility to perform exists if the group wants it — always a collective decision, never individual pressure.

THE PROJET
Bloco na Rua is an artistic project rooted in Brazilian cultural expression — samba, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, street dances — not as an aesthetic to reproduce, but as social technology: practices of self-transcendence, collective resilience, and transformation through movement. Here, moving is not a performance. It's a political act — existing in your body without asking permission, connecting with others without hierarchy, exploring new ways of being together. A space open to everyone. No level judgment. No ideal body. The destination is you.
